About the Author

Cara Matthew Cara Matthew

Cara is an experienced Scottish PT, currently teaching at the respected Webster's High School.

After picking up two degrees in Human Anatomy from Aberdeen University, Cara stopped off as a research scientist at Cambridge University before moving to Malaysia and a lectureship in Anatomy at UKM.  Several years and a gorgeous sun tan later, she returned to Scotland to train as a biology teacher, working her way up to become principal teacher of Science at Webster’s High School.
When not worrying about attainment levels and staffing, Cara spends her time battling with three giant hedges, two lawns and a teenage daughter.

What is your earliest memory?
Dropping a baby hamster on the floor. It went on to live a long and happy life, with a limp!

Which teacher inspired you the most at school?
Mr Deas, my maths teacher for five out of six years at secondary school – gave me self belief.

What was your worst subject at school?!
French – still don’t know how I passed (at the second attempt)!

What inspired you to get writing?
Guess I’m just obsessed with my subject and find it hard to let go.

What do you do to relax?
Play cards, gardening, sleep.

What is your favourite book?
Duncton Wood by William Horwood, a mole love story, now out of print unfortunately.

What is your favourite film?
Love 3 films equally:
Pirates of the Caribbean – Jack Sparrow rules!
Galaxy Quest – Alan Rickman’s character is just brilliant.
The Ghost and Mrs Muir – a very old black and white love story that has me in tears every time.

What is your favourite album?
Anastacia by Anastacia – I love to belt out her songs when driving.

What is the most fun you’ve had in a single day?
Riding rollercoasters with my daughter at DisneyWorld, Florida. Screaming is the best fun - ever.

What have you done that no one would guess you'd done?
I met the Brazilian footballer Ronaldo at Disneyland Paris during the French World Cup. Does that count?

Reviews

Had leckie and leckie revision books but I found them dull and boring and not very presentable. I love the bright red revision series, I have for maths, physics, chemistry and biology. Have found chemistry quite challenging but with the help of the bright red revision book it seems to be sinking in finally. If I hadn't found this book I would probably be looking at scraping a pass in the exams, now I feel like I may go all the way an get a B or even better an A, along with the same in all my other subjects. Please take out an advanced highert range as I'm sure this will be of benefit to many people also. Thanks once again.

just a short note to say that recently my daughter, who is doing highers currently, was advised to buy Bright Red material for her studies, the teacher had said to her that your books were much better than previous books they had used!
