Born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Emma completed her MA Hons degree in French, Italian and Spanish at St Andrews before embarking on a teaching qualification at Glasgow University. She is currently working at Liberton High School, Edinburgh by day and teaches evening classes at Deans Community High School, Livingston by night where she offers Italian and Spanish to adult learners.
In her free time, Emma enjoys violin playing and keeping fit whilst taking every opportunity available to travel abroad to discover new cultures and brush up on her language skills. Having built up a network of friends from all over the world, her options are endless!
What is your earliest memory?
Age 3, sitting in the garden cuddling 13 dolls and petting my dog Goldie.
Which teacher inspired you the most at school?
Mrs Clark and Mrs Cordiner, my modern languages teachers.
What was your worst subject at school?!
Chemistry; I was lost!
What inspired you to get writing?
The thought of being able to share with others the techniques that got me where I am today.
What do you do to relax?
Go to the gym and take out my frustration on the treadmill.

Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette.
What is the most fun you’ve had in a single day?
Any day at Liberton High School! Between pupils and colleagues I spend most of my time in stitches!

Published a book of poems, aged 12. Please don't read it!
